LeConte Lodge to delay opening, cancel reservations

USA Today Network - Tennessee

The LeConte Lodge on Mount LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has announced that it will not open for this year’s season on Monday, March 20, as planned, and has canceled all reservations made through Thursday, March 23.

Snow blankets much of LeConte Lodge and the surrounding cabins on Mount LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Gatlinburg in 2012.

Winter weather has prevented the lodge from acquiring the supplies necessary to house overnight visitors. As of Wednesday, seven inches of snow has accumulated at the lodge, according to highonleconte.com, which has made resupplying the lodge difficult.

Those with canceled reservations are asked to call the lodge’s reservation office at 865-429-5704 as soon as possible. The office is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Guests with canceled reservations can choose a credit for the 2018 season or can reschedule their stay beginning Tuesday, March 21, based on space availability in the 2017 season.
