Nickelodeon went off the air for 17 minutes at the time of the national walkout

One month after 17 students and faculty members were killed at a Florida high school, Nickelodeon went off the air for 17 minutes to honor the lives lost.

Nickelodeon halted its regularly scheduled programming for 17 minutes to honor the 17 students and faculty members killed one month ago in Parkland, Florida.

From 10 a.m. until 10:17 a.m. Nickelodeon broadcasted one simple message. The screen read:

"In support of kids leading the way today, Nickelodeon will be off the air until 17 minutes past the hour."

Chattanooga, Tennessee, resident Kelly Bradshaw Ballard was watching Paw Patrol with her son when the message appeared.

"Way to go, Nickelodeon!!," Ballard posted on Facebook with the photo.
